Sunday was quite the year, wasn’t it
Jul. 22nd, 2024 09:40 amWell. Sunday sure was… neat…
It’s 12:20am and I’ve been working my ass off all day trying to line people up for Harris, while also making sure that everyone I can reach knows we can win, and so on and so on and so on. It has been a day, and yeah, it did feel like a week or maybe a month or maybe a year.
Everything has changed and yet nothing has changed, but it’s more everything than nothing. We’ve just lost a group of older white people, mostly men, who voted for Biden and absolutely will not vote for a woman and another number to straight up racism.
That misogyny and racism is almost certainly going to get super intense, not that it hasn’t been already. As painful as it is to say it, that can work for us. But be ready for it. When they show people who they are, let ’em. Don’t repeat it, just ask folks, “is this grotesquely monstrous racism and raw hatred of women really what you want out for your country? For your family? For your daughters?”
Make it personal – always, always make it personal – and tell ’em how it affects them.
And the good news is, this is how Millennials and Zoomers can seize the moment. That’s the opportunity side of this. Everbody goes all in, and we win this thing, and everyone starts focusing on what Millennials and Zoomers want as the new power block.
So all previous action items are still in effect; all previous advice is just as applicable as it was on Friday. Just modify it a little for Kamala and carry on, team.
Anyway.
I was going to write today about Elon Musk being a fascist dickhead and Twitter pushing Trump, so I may as well throw that in. Here’s why you should still be getting the hell of Twitter if you aren’t already gone.
Elon Musk Demands “Criminal Prosecution” of People Who Won’t Give Him Money. He actually literally thinks that it should be illegal not to pay money to him and to his fascist disinformation fountain. Holy shit, what an absolute fuckhead.
In a more general sense, he thinks boycotts should be illegal, at least, if they affect him, and he’s trying to get Republican state officials to press charges against people on his behalf.
I mean, that should be reason enough right there. Stay away from the evil paranoid fuck. What else do you need?
There’s also the whole all-in on Trump with money, too. The more money Twitter loses, the less he has to spend on shit like this. It’s to the tune of $45 million dollars a month.
Billionaires should not be a thing. I have become way more radical about that over time.
Anyway, all that’s happening as Twitter has started ambush-suspending large numbers of remaining LGBT accounts, because that’s what a “radical free speech” advocate does: try to get people thrown in jail for not supporting his fascism while censoring people he doesn’t like.
But he is adding pro-Trump icons next to hashtags. That won’t get annoying. I don’t know if that’s part of the donation or a paid promotion or what, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s all part of his push for the fascist bastard.
And remember: every Twitter user is income. If this is where you want your money going, then, well… that’s the choice you’re making. Whether to change that is up to you.
I hope you will.
105 days remain.

Date: 2024-07-23 08:25 am (UTC)There's an option now for a landslide, like, a crushing one. For us, to be very clear. It's a long shot, but it's back in play.
More on that next post.

Date: 2024-07-25 06:11 am (UTC)Something somebody said the other day resonated with me. That having a billion dollars is like having a nuclear warhead, i.e., that you can do as much damage with a billion dollars as you can with a nuclear warhead.
E.g., some complete fucking idiot bought Sears, Roebuck, took it private, ran it into the ground, and destroyed it. Took a functioning company with thousands of employees and just removed it from the map. That's probably about 10kT right there.
Hell, I think $1billion may well be enough to buy an actual nuclear warhead if you can work out the logistics of who needs to be paid off in order to make it happen.
And most rational, sane people will agree that the 2nd Amendment was never intended to apply to private individuals owning nukes.
