solarbird | A new friend for Rainsong

Rainsong was bored and lonely, so I was going to get one of those "birdie buddy" things and some new toys, hoping to cheer her up a bit. But while at the pet store (picking up food) I found they selling an eight-year-old budgie named Oasis, complete with cage and toys for the cost of the bare cage. (Because, well, eight. She's been a store pet and they're having to move by April and don't have new quarters yet so aren't sure what'll happen.)

I didn't want to get a young budgie to put in with Rainsong, because, well, the age difference would be too much. And I didn't want to take home yet another cage. But I talked to them and they let me take the budge for $17 - but insisted I had to take all her toys with her.

They're in separate cages right next to each other right now, getting used to the idea of each other. Oasis is very friendly towards Rainsong; not so much towards me. Rainsong at first went to the furthest-away point in the cage, but has now made her way to the closer side and started making with the eye-blinkies, and this morning, they're chirping at each other. So I think in a few days I'll be able to put them both into the same cage and take the temporary cage back downstairs. So, yay. ^_^
