This is a really good thread on some of the many, many ways Twitter is no longer ready to function, like, at all.

I personally know someone who triggered one of these in real life, and brought down about... a fifth of the internet, if I remember correctly?

(One of my followers will be fully ready to correct me on the percentage if I'm wrong. It was a lot.)

During my time at I read a lot of COE (correction of error) reports, which are required after a SEV1 or SEV2. And wrote a few. What's really scary is how many possibilities aren't in that thread. Yet. Router misconfiguration is the first one I thought of...

Oh sure, it's not exhaustive.

Sure! Brief outages are one thing, though, and if you can't actually fix them, then even if you manage to get back online, the next one will be... worse.

Snowball effect and all that.
