bench materials box

Most of what I've been doing the last few days has been hilarious by which I mean crazymaking server bullshit for our new mastodon server. But in not server-upgrade goings-on...
I have a basement garage workbench I built from an old garden box I got from a neighbour and other leftovers. I posted pictures when I built it, but here's a new one:

The box part is pretty great because I can use it as a materials box, where items I'm working on can be stored, or better yet, have their paint or fill or glues or whatever cure, leaving the bench clear.
And with a heating pad, it can be used as a warmed materials box. This is particularly useful when it's cold, since the basement garage is unheated.
But the heating pad on high only managed to heat the box 8°F above ambient. (I'm using °F in these measurements because materials sold in the US always list their working temps in °F.) And that's been enough, but it's borderline to outright inadequate in the winter.
Meanwhile I've been saving the silver Hello Fresh insulation used sometimes in summer delivery boxes. I used a bunch for another project at another point, but I've got a nice stack built up again and the time to use it has come:

It's three layers thick on top and back and sides, and only two layers on the front panel that opens forward for various clearance reasons.
I was hoping to get +18 to +20, since that'd get a freezing garage above 50°F, which is within working temperature for most materials. And I got it! Plus a little buffer, even. The box now holds +21.5°F with the heating pad on high, and +11.5°F when it's on low, giving me some nice flexibility in the spring and autumn when I just need a little extra heat, not a lot. :D
And that was the other thing I did this weekend.
