Added another panel to the climate control system stuff. May as well make the general conditions data available to obsolete devices too, right? And now it is. 😊



It's particularly nice to have for the old Samsung tablet I've mounted on the wall above the built-in cabinet desk on the main floor, which is slowly becoming the control centre for all this nonsense.

What's the "pillow" temperature in this context? I tried Googling but I got results either about literal pillows or the town of Pillow, Pennsylvania.

The front of the building forms a big, deep heat pillow in the mornings when it's sunny. It doesn't break up until around 3pm. It's very deep, but highly localised, and dramatically affects the usefulness of opening windows - which is why it's called out separately.

It's also useful for the temperature on the front porch, which is also in the same heat blanket.

Mm, ok. I remember you posting about the rotating opening of windows and things. We get a heat trap under our back patio for some reason, even though it's open on the two sides that aren't the walls of the house so there's free air flow, and the sun doesn't get into it very far either from the east or the south. Yet it's consistently several degrees warmer under there, close to the house, than the sensors out the north side. Which is a bummer as far as cooling because there are two large sliding glass doors out to the patio and being able to open them would help a lot when/if the outside temperature drops. We recently had our outer walls insulated (previously only the roof was), and while it's definitely made a noticeable difference (e.g. our western bedroom wall, which used to get very warm to the touch on the inside on hot days, now stays mostly cool), it's also turned out to mean that the air inside the house seems to want to stabilize around 75-77 degrees and is harder to cool down from there. If we could make use of the available airflow from those doors it would help, but that air is less different than the inside air than it ought to be. :-/

Like right now, it's 28C in the heat pillow, but 25.5 outside the heat pillow on the same side of the building.
