The End, and the beginning.
May. 31st, 2021 11:38 amIt's such a relief to have this finally out there and have this part of the story finished.
I mean - yes. There's a coda. It matters. But the coda is a hinge, a janus looking forwards as much as back, and while I think it belongs to the Arc of Conflict, it's really the beginning of the Arc of Dominion.
Basically this turned into a far more linear story than ever intended - the whole reason we have this Edda/Saga structure is because they're supposed to be semi-standalone. But it turned very linear, particularly in the Arc of Conflict. And all the storylines ending here really started with the Arc of Ascension, making this a 230,000 word storyline and I've been so worried that people would find the ending underwhelming, given how bloody long it's all been.
But - at least in comments so far - they aren't. They're saying it feels like an ending of an entire series, even more than the ending of an arc.
And I can't tell you what a relief that is.
Fuck, this has been a long road.
