This is a mix of articles, mostly around support for rightists by rightist media and AG Barr, a bit of insight into why Minneapolis's police department is so fucking terrible, and possible (probable) infiltration by rightist groups. Out here, where the scale of things has been bad but much less bad, I'm seeing what looks a lot more like old-school Black Bloc anarchists, the same shitheads who tore up shit for fun during the 1999 WTO riots/"Battle in Seattle." But we also have a bunch of "Patriot Prayer" and "Proud Boy" fucks, so maybe it's a mix of both.

Oh, and some of /pol/'s nazis intend to bomb every lgbt-friendly site in the world as hard as they can throughout pride month. So that'll be fun. Be on the watch for that.

  4. Gov. Tim Walls, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter and now MN attorney general Keith Ellison ALL alleging outside forces, domestic and possibly foreign, have post-Tuesday infiltrated the state
  5. Barr blames anti-fascists ("Antifa"), "left extremist" groups for protest violence
  6. Trevor Noah on the dominos of racial injustice and police brutality
  7. Alt-right homophobes are using 4chan to plan a terrifying cyber attack on the LGBT+ community during Pride month

  9. Bow-wielding attacker not currently in custody, SLPD intends to "screen charges" against him and I don't know what that means but it may mean charges later.

Uncovered: Last October, the head of the Minneapolis police union — which days ago warned against a “rush to judgment” of the officers involved in George Floyd’s death — spoke at a Trump rally and praised him for ending the “handcuffing and oppression” of police under Obama.

Alt-right homophobes are using 4chan to plan a terrifying cyber attack on the LGBT+ community during Pride month

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2020/05/26/4chan-alt-right-operation-pridefall-pride-month-cyber-attack-starbucks-amazon-homophobia/

Alt-right 4chan users are plotting to hijack LGBT+ Pride month on June 1 by clogging social media with poisonous homophobia and boycotting supportive brands.

Members of the imageboard website plotted “Operation Pridefall” as early May 10 on the /pol/ board, according to an archived version of the thread.

The /pol/ board has emerged in recent years as a hub of online alt-right content and immediately became clogged with threads strategising the alarming cyberattack.

Organisers explained their plan to create a swarm of artificial accounts to relentlessly share anti-LGBT+ content across social media, pointedly targeting brands’ digital Pride campaigns.

They urged members to make the campaign “normie friendly” and opt not to create content relating to “Nazi/Hitler s**t”. Some supplied downloadable packs of anti-LGBT+ memes for users to disseminate.

Brazil Government Aide Says COVID-19's Toll on Elderly Will Reduce Pension Deficit As Country's Outbreak Escalates

Prompt action taken by Brazil's health officials at the start of the coronavirus was reportedly overturned at the intervention of President Jair Bolsanaro's chief-of-staff's office, which is facing growing criticism over the response to the disease.

Brazil has been without a health minister since May 15 after Nelson Teich, who had only been in post for a month, quit following a disagreement with Bolsonaro's decree that allowed gyms and beauty parlors to reopen. Bolsanaro has been in the firing line globally for downplaying the virus and continuing to oppose lockdown measures.

Teich became the second health minister to leave the post in under a month after Luiz Henrique Mandetta was fired in April following criticism by Bolsonaro for urging people to observe social distancing and stay indoors.

When the coronavirus pandemic began, Brazil's health ministry had been swift to advise that cruises be canceled, large gatherings prohibited and people returning from overseas go into isolation.

But Julio Croda, an epidemiologist who used to head the health ministry's department of immunization and transmissible diseases, said that measures were watered down following "pressure," which Reuters reported had come from Bolsanaro's chief-of-staff's office.

Croda said he encountered a lack of urgency from the government when his department predicted that the elderly would bear the brunt of the coronavirus.

Croda told Reuters that when informed that older people would be more likely to die from the disease, Solange Vieira, who leads the Superintendence of Private Insurance, linked to the country's finance ministry and who helped reform the country's pensions, said: "It's good that deaths are concentrated among the old."

"That will improve our economic performance as it will reduce our pension deficit," Veira reportedly added, according to Croda.

A US man has loaded a bow and aimed it at protesters in Utah who were demonstrating against police brutality following the custody death of African-American man George Floyd in Minnesota on Monday.

According to local news station KSL-TV, the man was detained after the incident, which took place after 6:00pm (local time) on Saturday amid nationwide protests.

In a tweet, the Salt Lake City Police Department said it did not have the individual in custody but intended to screen charges against him.

‘Damn Shame’: Pittsburgh Police Chief Says White Males Dressed In Anarchist Attire Hijacked George Floyd Protests Downtown
May 30, 2020

https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2020/05/30/cheif-schubert-floyd-protests-comments/

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – During a press conference, Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert expressed disappointment and anger toward those that turned Saturday afternoon’s protest from peaceful to violent.

“I can tell you as the police chief, I am very disappointed because this was a peaceful protest for something that was very serious, and this does nothing to honor the memory of somebody who died,” Chief Schubert said. “When you take it from a peaceful protest and you take it to a riot where you’re injuring people, you’re throwing rocks at people, you’re throwing cans at people, you’re hurting reporters, you’re taking over something that shouldn’t be.”

“We believe a lot of these individuals that are creating trouble are not from the city,” Hissrich said.

“I am so angry at the fact that some segment hijacked this and then took some of the youth and brought them into the mix,” Schubert said. “This is something we take very seriously and we’ll do everything we can for the ones who did this and to find out who they are and to get them.”

Regarding the whole "COVID-19's Toll on Elderly Will Reduce Pension Deficit", which I have seen expressed by high-ranking politicians from more than one government: in addition to being breathtakingly callous, it's just stupid. COVID-19 is leaving a significant chunk of survivors with heart/lung/kidney damage. I'm figuring any 'pension relief' will be more than off-set by the number of newly-disabled younger people removed from the workforce and needing support.
