Today... yeah. Today.

I'll just let Pavel take it, here:

y'know, the worst part of watching all this is knowing you can't even grab a helicoper and wall yourself off inside a shopping mall because what even is a shopping mall anymore.

  1. Rudy Giuliani mocks contact tracing by asking why we don't also do it for cancer, obesity and heart disease
  2. Donkeyballs Donald really did say to cure COVID-19 with UV light and injecting disinfectants, by the way. That's the Republican god-emperor. Injecting bleach into his veins.
  3. Watch Dr. Birx die inside as Trump goes off about injecting disinfectants and using UV and sunlight to cure COVID-19
  4. Oh my gods, I found it. I found what set Trump off.
  5. [EDITOR: I really want to say, "Also, here's a real story," but THEY'RE ALL FUCKING REAL. ALL OF THIS IS REAL. CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK IS ANYTHING ANYMORE HOW ARE THESE NOT FAKE?] Trump administration considers leveraging emergency coronavirus loan to force Postal Service changes
  6. Trump approved of Georgia’s reopen plan before bashing it
  7. AP-NORC poll: Few Americans support easing virus protections

It's fun to focus on onlookers' facial expressions in Trump clips when he says crazy stuff, but process what this one means. Dr. Birx, a career health expert, is clearly forcing herself to hide her dismay at what she's hearing, lest she be fired by the moron we elected president.

In other words, America has the experts to take on coronavirus to the best of our ability, but they're hostage to the whims of a manchild who spouts inane conspiracy theories and quack cures he read on the internet or saw on TV. It's not funny. It's devastating.

We are being led by a man who is fundamentally incapable and utterly uninterested in investing even minimal effort to do his job and save American lives. There's no silver lining, and there's no honest escape from that fact.

oh my god i found it.

do you know what this fuck is going off on? i found it.

it's a quack treatment that's been around a while involving intravenous over the counter hydrogen peroxide to "cure all viruses."

and since that probably killed too many people (or scared too many, because of HOME TREATMENT WITH HOMEMADE IVs is a bit daunting even for the most dedicated conspiracy theory lunatics) so they shifted to pitching _nebulisers._

this fucking adderall addict probably heard some commercial about it on coast-to-coast AM back in the day between segments on UFO conspiracies and jesus appearing on toast and it went round and round and came out _now_.

i am NOT LINKING to this shit because they are SELLING THESE THINGS.

holy fuck.

every single member of the twitter.com/SenateGOP except for mitt romney needs to be dragged in front of the hague.

meanwhile, the biggest guy pushing this right now apparently got arrested for contributing to a measles epidemic in Samoa by spreading anti-vax propaganda.

Trump administration considers leveraging emergency coronavirus loan to force Postal Service changes
President Trump has railed for years against what he sees as mismanagement of the agency, which he argues has been exploited by sites such as Amazon

The Treasury Department is considering taking unprecedented control over key operations of the U.S. Postal Service by imposing tough terms on an emergency coronavirus loan from Congress, which would fulfill President Trump’s longtime goal of changing how the service does business, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Officials working under Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who must approve the $10 billion loan, have told senior officials at the USPS in recent weeks that he could use the loan as leverage to give the administration influence over how much the agency charges for delivering packages and how it manages its finances, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the talks are preliminary.

Trump has railed for years against what he sees as mismanagement at the Postal Service, which he argues has been exploited by e-commerce sites such as Amazon, and has sought to change how much the agency charges for delivery packages. Trump approved of Georgia’s reopen plan before bashing it

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence repeatedly told Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp that they approved of his aggressive plan to allow businesses to reopen, just a day before Trump pulled an about-face and publicly bashed the plan, according to two administration officials.

The green light from Pence and Trump came in separate private conversations with the Republican governor both before Kemp announced his plan to ease coronavirus restrictions and after it was unveiled on Monday, the officials said. Trump’s sudden shift came only after top health advisers reviewed the plan more closely and persuaded the president that Kemp was risking further spread of the virus by moving too quickly.

“I told the governor of Georgia Brian Kemp that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities,” Trump said Wednesday, just a day after telling reporters that he trusted Kemp’s judgment. “He knows what’s he’s doing.”

On Thursday, he was even harder on the governor: “I wasn’t happy with Brian Kemp, I wasn’t at all happy.”

The extraordinary reversal — and public criticism of a GOP ally — is only the latest in a series of contradictory and confusing messages from the president on how and when he believes governors should ease stay-at-home orders intended to stop the spread of the deadly virus. It demonstrates the political risk for governors in following the unpredictable president’s guidance.

AP-NORC poll: Few Americans support easing virus protections

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans remain overwhelmingly in favor of stay-at-home orders and other efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus, a new survey finds, even as small pockets of attention-grabbing protests demanding the lifting of such restrictions emerge nationwide.

The survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also finds that a majority of Americans say it won’t be safe to lift social distancing guidelines anytime soon, running counter to the choice of a handful of governors who have announced plans to ease within days the public health efforts that have upended daily life and roiled the global economy.

Only 12% of Americans say the measures where they live go too far. About twice as many people, 26%, believe the limits don’t go far enough. The majority of Americans — 61% — feel the steps taken by government officials to prevent infections of COVID-19 in their area are about right.

He wants to kill with impunity, on some level. Clearly.

As for the Chekov meme? He never said that in any episode or movie. Not any heroic version of his so far depicted, anyway. And yet there are clearly several points in his travels where he ought to have been given those lines. But for censorship of the times...
