Put basket on rack, slide forward, press the button, CLICK, LOCKED ON. Pick up bike with basket! Well don't do that in general but it's a good test. Put the bike down now. Push button, CLICK, slide basket back, NO MORE BIKE BASKET! Put it back down, repeat.

I already built three more pairs of these mounting units. I'm gonna attach EVERYTHING to my bicycle. INCLUDING OTHER BICYCLES MAYBE but na what i really want is options of no basket, basket, and waterproof case. That's the real point.

Congratulations! Well done! Just like Lisa, you don't let the "we won't sell that here" get to you. (She also ends up having to make things when it proves impossible to buy them. Having a large garage full of tools and equipment to do this helps.)

The tools needed here are:

1) Accurate jig saw, for 90 degree cuts. If you are bad at 90 degree cuts, the saw must make up for you. (I have a very old Jorgensen 600mm three-axis manual mitre saw. Getting blades is an adventure. I now know how to sharpen saw blades and have a metal cutting blade I got two-decade NOS from Hardwick's in the U. District.)

2) Drill that you can put 5/16th inch metal rods into in order to spin them at high speed so you can use your...

3) Flat Metal file to make said rods thinner as this system is metric.

4) You'll also need a round metal file particularly if you don't have a drill press (as I do not) because your 5/16ths inch drill bit won't make 5/16ths in holes for some reason and you have to fix that.

Sandpaper to smooth out your filing doesn't hurt either, and you can do that since it's aluminium!

Lisa has a drill press (acquired from an estate of a friend whose father had a huge amount of equipment); unfortunately, it's old and non-standard and the chuck key is lost. She's improvised one, but it's not quite right, and no chuck key we've found on the market actually fits. Annoying that she's facing having to fabricate her own chuck key.
