Widowmaker has a blowing-a-kiss emote. It made me irrationally happy to not just be flirted with but to get that kiss pre-game tonight. Yeah.
Had a quintuple kill as Pharah that did not get Play of the Game yesterday, somehow. But today, had an announced quadruple-kill followed immediately by getting D.va as she popped out of her mech, so really, a second quintuple, and that was mostly solo work. (All five kills, including the D.va, showed up in Play of the Game footage. And yeah, that one was POTG, and I knew it would be as soon as I did it.)
I may have been kind of inspired. That Widowmaker stuck with me for a while.
Also, yesterday, I got off a couple of quick headshots as Wids, and our team's Tracer said, "You can be my wingman anytime!" and I'm all like "a spring wedding would be good is that good would a spring wedding be good?" XD
(tracemaker trash 5eva APPARENTLY)
Hm, what else? One-on-one killed Genji as Widowmaker today - he was trying to flank us again, and was patterning pretty hard - which completed a Team Kill. 90% of the damage with a not-quite-critical headshot, the rest machine gun fire. (Defence, Temple of Anubus.) That was fun.
Also, a few days ago, as Widowmaker, on defence again, at Hanamura, three quick solo kills, all scoped, all single shots, triple kill notification - and it also wasn't play of the game. Damn, that felt nice. At least it made my highlights reel.
I'm noticing I will do a lot of flanker-killing on defence with Widowmaker. It's a good role. Doesn't tend to get you the most medals - though sometimes it will - but it's a good role from a strategy standpoint for sure. Paul has said that while I don't always get the highest kill count as Widowmaker, I'm getting all strategically important kills.
On the downside, I think I go into Widow 76 mode a little too quickly. This is where I'm basically playing her as Soldier 76, with machine-gun fire and poison grenades. It's much more effective than people expect it to be, partly because nobody expects Widowmaker on the point, much less her shooting you in the face with machine-gun fire at a full run, much much less for her to be throwing poison grenades in your face. As a result, I do a lot of golding in kills until they they go WILL SOMEBODY STOP THAT FUCKING WIDOWMAKER?! at which point I start getting triple-teamed all the time. And that's not something I know how to handle well enough yet.
But I'll get there.
I'm thinking I'll play her in competitive mode in Season VI. Not full time, of course, that's silly - but in appropriate situations. We'll see.
