I should note, the two statements don't necessarily contradict each other, in that there's a difference between "guaranteed vote against" and "refusal to vote or even hold hearings at all," which is what they've been doing. I think even with his walkback, his statement means, "we'll hold hearings, and reject every one." Because "merits." Of course.

"I promise you that we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up," McCain said on WPHT Philadelphia radio in an interview first flagged by CNN. "I promise you. This is where we need the majority."He has 'walked this back,' as they say, since people came down on it - but which do you believe is true?
