hydrogen – a linux-based drum machine – has decided that its 151 beats per minute should be much faster than ardour’s 151 beats per minute.

i gotta tell you, this is turning into a “why do i even try” week. really is.

Maybe Linux thinks that 60 seconds to a minute is so last year? Or has a different opinion on what a "second" really is?

Or, more probable, there's a rounding error somewhere. That'd be my assumption, trying to get things executed on frequent, regular intervals. IIRC, I ended up using Bresenham's line drawing algorithm to figure out when to "do" things in a way that was sufficiently regular, when I last tried.

Were it Linux, Ardour and Hydrogen would still agree, but they don't.

This is also much too high-level an error for that kind of rounding error. And I did at least encounter one other person online last night who uses both and says they've never seen that before.

Hm, if they use milliseconds, that'd take it from 151 to 166 BPM (or from 151 to 142 BPM). But it truly sounds weird.
