I was actually watching - and quoting from - 9k1 et al during and immediately after the Isla Vista, California murder spree; this article is reasonably accurate. Much of it is actual "joking," but much of that is "joking" with a palpable sense of, "if only."

That, right there, made me throw up in my mouth a little. Such a horrible world-view, with just such small misunderstandings underpinning it. And I doubt it would be easy to argue people out of it, because I doubt they've reasoned themselves into that horrible little corner.
