Putting my subscription on "automatic renewal" without asking and then trying to charge me without my consent is the surest way to get me to drop your service or publication.

Sorry, Foreign Affairs, but no.

eta: I have room now for a better, more serious journal of the same sort. (I've been upset with their... fluffier... approach as of late, regardless. The special issue on retail shopping? I felt like burning it.) Suggestions, anyone?

...too American-centric regardless.

I wasn't wholly honest in my reply as I left the impression that I do not read the magazine (who wants to be a journal). I still have my subscription and haven't had any problems with them forcing themselves unto me. I am sorry you had that experience.

Recommend this weekly 'newspaper': The Economist. Have been reading it for years, to good effect.

The Economist is really good, I do enjoy reading it.

Was a wee bit disappointed to hear from our village postmistress that ours was the only Economist subscription coming in. Well, at least the only **print** version.

Quite concur with Dara that Foreign Affairs was becoming 'lighweight' at times. Stopped giving it to friends and family as an annual subscription, at the time that that first became notable.

If all else fails, our favourite teamongers put out a nice little quarterly read. ^_^

Print mail might be a poor indicator. Regarding this discussion alone, I hold a digital subscription for both Foreign Affairs and The Economist. I would shutter to think what a person would learn about me from my physical mail.
