...how out of touch 'leadership' is. From that most ardent fanzine of the Diplomatic Service, Foreign Affairs, in opposition to an article asserting that it's bad that German philosopher Martin Heidegger was an ardent Nazi and anti-Semite, and that maybe people ought to be more engaged with these issues:
People were at their best, [Heidegger] contended, when they collectively engaged with their history, as the French do in what they call "the culture of the table," a tradition of cooking and conversation now under siege from TV dinners and other processed food.
Leaving everything else aside - which is extremely difficult, I acknowledge, but... holy hell, how long has it been since "TV dinners" were the moral panic? 50 years? 45? Is that really the last time Christian Madsbjerg (and/or his family) has had contact with the larger popular culture?
