Somebody built a better... axe.

Specifically, some Finns built a better firewood-splitting axe. It offsets the blade and adds a hook, so that downward force is translated to horizontal force after impact, which tears the wood more efficiently and tosses the new section of the split off to the side.

Of course the video was edited so that both times it stuck in the log were cut out...
I prefer the way my dad taught us to split logs: Splitting maul and sledge hammer. They're really great for working out frustrations.

Well, what they say on their pages is that it it reduces wedging, not eliminates it. I've split very little wood myself, so what do I know?
