Well, I went downtown this morning and provided testimony before the city council on garbage pickup issues. @whee. But it was actually kind of fun; the newspaper story on our neighbourhood raised enough red flags - apparently the "love-hate relationship... like when we lived in New York" line really flipped out several members of the council - that suddenly all the things we've been talking about for the last several years are front-burner. There's real talk about calling the student-slumlords to heel; the councilmembers themselves brought up DCLU (our biggest single problem, in my opinion); even the noise ordinance revision is suddenly back in discussion.

Hopefully something will come of it this time.
