Hey, guys!

I want to make some little quote stickers as freebies at shows, snippets pulled out of songs for the merch table. Does that sound like a good idea? I know that SJ Tucker does that and people seem to like it.

I’ve drawn up a little list of bits I like, but if you have any snippets that you think would be cool on a sticker, let me know!

I was kind of surprised Quatermass and the Pit fared so well in last week’s poll. That’s kinda awesome. I like it too, so I’m happy. The Carpenter film you liked best turned out to be Prince of Darkness, and all I can say about that is that you guys have really good taste in Carpenter films – it’s totally my favourite. And since Battle Royale and Paranormal Activity tied for first, I’ll bring ‘em both in, why not?

The rest are Universal Horror Classics. Well, most of them are. I’m going to cheat, and add one: White Zombie, 1932. I love that film. Yeah, it’s a bit slow, even for the era, and it’s kind of weird in that we’re-still-figuring-out-how-to-make-movies kind of way, but it’s moody like mood is going out of style, Bela Lugosi is in fine form, and, most of all, it has the single creepiest scene I have ever seen in any film to this day.

Creeps me out just thinking about it. No lie.

This is a pretty good set of films, really. If you wanted a viewing list for your Halloween pleasure – one that doesn’t include robots and Gizmonic Institute employees – you could do a lot worse.

Pick your favourite of this lucky 13:

You Crown Your Emperor of Horror!

A few bits that always stand out for me:
"Do you catch the rustles in the distance?
Do you hear the padding on the stairs?"

"Nightmares fading without a trace in the STARS!"

"Can I find any meaning in a world without pain?"

"I know how to get there but I don't know where I'm going
Is there someone out there who can give me a sign?"

Also, thank you. Shout at the Desert turned out to be exactly what I needed to listen to before heading to work this morning :)

Wait. I missed all these individual polls, except 2. how did I miss them?

Good list, indeed.

But ...
... where is The Ring? The Haunting? Carrie? (or The Grudge, The Shining? The Bad Seed?)

I CRY FOUL!

I have been busy and missed a lot. I didn't mean to sound like I was criticizing you in the "How did I miss them?" stuff; was more going for "plaintive wail". Sorry if came off the wrong way.

I did vote in two of the polls. Alas, missed both the Carpenter and Horrors Moderne.

I dost fail at life.

(also, yeah, what is up with no one being around lately? Say I who mostly wasn't around, but did post what I thought was one of my more interesting lj posts ever last weekend, which got a grand total of zero comments. I sulked until I forgot about it. Now I remember. I should sulk more. ::sulks::)

Aye. I just hate bolting when a lot of its problems were apparently due to an effort to quell dissident expression in Russia; letting it die will be aiding the forces of oppression and all that (granted, my free account probably isn't actually doing much of anything to prop it up).

Tho, hmm, maybe I should start making new friends on dreamwidth, or something. I can always post there again, and maybe look around a little more, if nothing else.

Or make new efforts to stay here. I hate facebook; going there is not an option. I'd rather have no social networking. Twitter isn't really the same thing. So.

More cheerfully, I fully intend to watch White Zombie ONE DAY. After I'd managed to forget your last-Halloween rec of this movie until today. But really, one day, I will remember when it matters.
