I originally wrote up something longer and more bitter, but hey, nobody gives a fuck. So I'll just bullet list a few recent political horrors, to formally log my disgust, so I can close some browser tabs.
- America sure loves its drone strikes. Nobody else does, tho'.
- Maybe that'll change once Americans are killed by them more often, but I kind of doubt it.
- I mean, once the Bipartisan Party decided torture was okay, why bother arguing? Still, you have to be careful, now that you have DHS saying
- Homeland Security can seize, without even suspicion, any and all electronic devices at the border, which they have conveniently defined to mean "within 100 miles of any border." That includes waterfront, folks, so, are you within 100 miles of a coast? You don't own a goddamn thing.

Date: 2013-02-17 03:29 am (UTC)Ongoing, overt, in your face, just plain rude and unmannered surveillance really sucks. I fought hard to get away from that; I'm sure I'm not the only person who ever hated having their lives tossed around for constant examination. It galls my ass that the surveillance-and-coercion culture of the corporate torture state is now so widespread, so block-headedly normative, these days, that the organs of the state no longer bother to hide their activities against us.
Yeah, sure, probably 95% of my neighbours -- and yours, too -- would ceerfully see us deprived of whatever illusion of civil liberty we yet possess. Probably a good 30% of them would just as soon see us dead, as long as we hand over our bank-card numbers first. I can't substantiate either number, of course, but this evening, it sure feels like I'm close to the mark.
Glah.
Yeah, I give a shit. One data point heard from, at least.
G'night and good luck,
