BECAUSE THEY'D BOUGHT THEMSELVES AN EXEMPTION!
Also, check this shit out, it's all over Tumblr. I haven't vetted it but I know at least some of it is true and what I listened to didn't directly contradict anything I do know. But that's not a vetting. Anyway, it's fun:

Polis pointed out that SOPA and Smith’s amendment already excluded certain operators of sub-domains, such as GoDaddy.com, from being subject to shutdowns under SOPA.source here
“If companies like GoDaddy.com are exempt, why aren’t non-commercial domain servers exempt?” Polis asked.
