Yep. We have a whole bunch of dead equipment. I think the TiVo is going to be okay (unwedged fan is unwedged, at least for the moment) and the fleet of dead surge protectors have earned their tickets to Valhalla. But I haven't got to the upstairs yet.

eta: re-wedged fan is re-wedged. And removed! And whoever built this power supply needs punchings, stat. But I've got the fan out and it, at least, looks pretty standard.

eta2: Studio computer monitor is alive. No time to test the rest right now, that'll take a while and it's bedtime. But the monitor surviving is a good indicator.

Damn. I'm saddened to hear this.

Our plane was turned back from its takeoff run by ATC, who froze all small planes owing to the wind burst. Ended up taking a very delayed and very vomitous ferry crossing instead.

Fie and pox upon such storms. :(

Pisser about this, here, is that in my foresight I booked a bus/ferry ticket as a backup ride out of Victoria. Yup, great, smart thinking, got the front seat of the bus yaddayadda. Just as soon as our floatyplane redocked from its turnback run (grr) I was out of there walking the shortest route to the bus terminal, in the wind and horizontal rain like y'do.

Get there, well-exercised, and find out that the floatyplane company had comped everyone else onto the bus, --and-- laid on a limo for the transfer.

But --I-- got the one very good seat, being the paying customer.

So, semi-win, anyway.

Sorry about surge protectors. Give 'em a hero's funeral with full honours.

I sounds as if you've got far better hardware chops than myself. I'm curious: would you be interested in helping an old Sony Tivo running? It's been gathering dust for years, and I hate to see it go to waste.
