I haven't been talking about much of it, but I've heard a lot about various voter suppression efforts, and a lot about touchscreen voting problems, particularly on Wired's Threat Level blog.

[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt has posted a note about this suggesting that people take cell phones (with video) into electronic-machine voting booths and shoot video of voting. If you have problems with votes switching underneath you, video it, call 1-866-OUR-VOTE, and upload it to youtube. She has more on this plan over here.

eta: Please make sure taking video is legal in your state. Apparently in some it is not.

I'm thankful touchscreens aren't really in use here in Kentucky (we use the Scantron sheets instead)--because in Kentucky, unfortunately, having a cell phone or any other recording device on at all in a polling place is illegal :( (And yes, the KY Attorney-General *has* sent Youtube and PBS info to that effect.)

Georgia and Florida are actually the two states I DO worry about this in--they *DO* tend to use the touchscreens, and (like in Kentucky) also ban recording devices and turned-on cell phones in polling places.
