Here's what the Inland Empire is like now, in California; there's a 12-ish minute report showing a "trashout" crew emptying out abandoned/foreclosed houses, and a guy who has a business spraypainting bank-owned lawns from brown to green, and more.

Some of my most regular customers now are people who maintain buildings that have been foreclosed upon. And the dumpster people (placing and emptying) are doing a great business. Oddly, so are some of the folks who do stuff like rip out and replace a/c systems.

o_o I grew up in Lake Elsinore. In fact, my parents live right on the border of that town now. Damn. That's shocking.

Reminds me of this story (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-bobcats5-2008sep05,0,2286826.story) about a neighbourhood near Lake Elsinore, via [livejournal.com profile] rikkisimons, who moved out of there in September.

That was absolutely, positively, surreal.
