This is interesting; A set of Saudi clerics have told the Saudi government that it must act to curb inflation. That's not that wacky in and of itself, except that it's widely accepted that a big part of Saudi inflation comes from their peg to the US dollar, which has fallen sharply in value over the last couple of years. I would not go so far as to call it a "fatwa against the dollar," but it does add a little extra non-economic pressure to the dollar situation.
