Ferry District votes for Kenmore-to-Seattle runs

The King County Ferry District voted Nov. 13 to enact a new work plan that will provide passenger ferry services between Kenmore and Seattle by 2011.

Four other routes are slated to appear on Lake Washington, and operation of the existing Vashion Island and West Seattle lines will continue as part of the program.

Sweet! As a Bainbridge Island resident, I'm pretty much required to approve of more Ferries, and at least one of those routes is one I'd use somewhat regularly.

Also, even with the creepy eyes, that icon is made of happy.

It'd be even better of light rail was getting to the most likely Ferry landing before 2016. Jesus. But I presume that's why Husky Stadium is the most likely Ferry terminus.

I was all like, huh, Kenmore touches the water? But then I remembered Lake Washington.
I was all mental-one-tracking all the ferries being in the Sound. Clearly this ferry would be on the lake, yes?

Yep, co-ordination with existing and other developing transit is gonna be key if this is going to work.

Well, Swamp Creek and the Sammamish River both go in the wrong directions, so yeah, it'd have to be on Lake Washington. The marina they're talking about is conveniently mostly south and a little east of us, too. So that's fun.
