There are women at CWA. When they're talking against abortion and against birth control, they have women do it. And Beverly LaHaye really is the founder. But they have a lot of men in charge of things because men are supposed to be in charge of things.

One really neat thing was listening to Beverly LaHaye Live in the 90s. All the female guests would call her Dr. LaHaye - she has a doctorate in divinity - but all the male guests and staff would call her Mrs. LaHaye, and it took a while, but I eventually realised that there were two factors here: first, that men without doctorates couldn't be "inferiour" to her, so dropped her proper title, and second, that in their mindset, her own achievements (a doctorate in religion) wasn't as important as her marriage to a man, Timothy LaHaye. They didn't quite ever say that, of course; that's my own interpretation of what I heard. But there was a lot of talk about these philosophies (men must be in authority over women and not vice-versa; the most important thing for women was to be the wife of a man), so it wasn't a big reach.
