I do the same thing with ground beast and 1 gallon ziplocks. 2lb of meat fits nicely, stores flat, and a flat sheet of beef thaws wonderfully fast. ;)

As silly as I thought the vacuum-pack thing was when it first showed up, I have to admit, it does a much better job than ziplocks. Freezer burn just doesn't happen. It's pretty cool.

I guess meat doesn't last long enough around here for freezer burn to be a factor. This is the first I've seen of vacuum packed Meat Planks though. ;)

The planky nature of these slabs is FULLY optional, even in the case of ground beef. But it's a great option to have. ^_^

We tend to buy meat in some quantity - I mean, not crazy quantities; what you're looking at there is three pounds, one 1-lb slab, two 1/2lb slabs, four 1/4lb slabs. But that's, hum, usually three weeks' worth of beef. Sometimes longer.

Tho' thinking about it - the freezer burn is actually a bigger issue with the chicken breasts. I wonder why?

Hee hee. Awesome.... The vacuum sealer I have is mostly used for rodents.... They are a bit harder to seal effectively though. Kinda bumpy.
