Red Leaf Awning

Not much going on here, really; errands and lazing about and lots of Wii Tennis and such. I did work out and practice the first layer (of, um, several) for that learn-how-to-do-overdub cover of "Leave It" I've been wanting to work on. That's been fun. Complicated, but fun. I'm inordinately pleased with myself that I only found one major error in my rhythm break-out upon actually singing it through. There are up to five rhythm parts at any given point, and at least one of those will be carrying several harmonies with it, so this is not a quick project for me. But I'm enjoying it so far. ^_^

I also did a little impromptu "gardening," which wasn't really "gardening," but was more "diverting the part-time creek back to its traditional creekbed" via use of a shovel. The water had started exploring points south, which was sending it into inappropriate parts of our garden. It's strange, though - most of the really obvious water is coming out of a small hole in the ground, indicating to me that one of the small springs on the upper part of our lot has moved, or changed in some key way, or something. Honestly, it's kind of confusing and I'm thinking I should walk up the streambed and see if I see a weird occlusion higher up the hill. Maybe some tree remnants got in the way... but that sounds wrong. Regardless, it's strange.

Pages 60-65 of the current OPEC Bulletin are interesting reading - mostly for the presentation on pages 62-65, but the first two pages provide context. And if you're wondering where the culture war has gone: even the fundamentalists take this week off. At least, as far as their public efforts go. I'll do a catch-up CWU this week, for highlights from the week I missed, but that'll probably be all.

I don't usually put memes above the cut, but the "first sentences" thing is actually a not-entirely half-bad summary of the year - plus, it features a deleted scene, just like the Battlestar Galactica "previously..." summaries. So, here it is, yay.

January:
"Half my cards got returned in the mail yesterday, with a note saying that because they're square, I have to add an extra 12¢ postage to each."

February:
"Briefly, I wanted to point out a post wherein [livejournal.com profile] flashfire does the math regarding this State of the Union statement:"

March:
"Lots of gardening, all in the form of clean-up."

April:
"[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt (1:10:35 PM): Oh, shit. Poor Oasis."

May:
"The Bush Administration is reportedly trying to come up with its own little Official Secrets Act."

June:
"Focus on the Family launches anti-marriage-rights blitz; there are a zillion of these things."

July:
"And again with the hot."

August:
"Walking around and trying to figure out where former streets went while walking to lunch in the U. District the other day."

September:
"I am in stupid, occasionally blinding, amounts of pain."

October:
"Stupidly exhausted all weekend."

November:
"I think I did okay on my second Japanese test."

December:
"We have a Feature Presentation!"

One Solarbird's too many, and a hundred's not enough.
