Halloween at Murkworks North - click through and you get .avi files, mostly because I had light problems, it being, well, dark. Mostly the same as last year, but we have better lighting.

Only 16 trick-or-treaters so far. The weather is good too, if a bit cold. Hopefully more as the night goes on.

Once spazzkat got home we had lights on the ground floor too, so the lowest two windows also glowed red. But that shot was late enough that the picture didn't come out as well. (Complete nightfall, plus the streetlight screwing things up.) But it looked good in person.

It was all lights and shadows, too. The claw hand was a garbage bag cutout projected against the roof, and the upstairs ghost head was another garbage-bag cutout projected against a sheet. BOO are letters also cut out of garbage bags, and about half the red lights were pre-existing lights shown through pre-existing red CD cases. Yay, cheap! ^_^

I've had good luck taking ambient photos of Christmas lights at night using a tripod and a long exposure. Of course, that's with film, and may not work with digital... ;-)

At night, in the right light, or at the right angle... this place can have a bit of that look, yeah. ^_^ My solstice yard year before last was all mad science and if you look at it next to the above pictures, you might just figure out where I got the lair.
