Mmmmmm, thunder
Oct. 1st, 2005 05:28 pmOooh, just heard thunder. Cooooool.
(This is rare in the PNW. Everybody go ahead and point and laugh.)
It's really farking dark up here, too. And we're having power flickers. But not a lot of rain. I've been housecleaning all day, which is boring but also kind of pleasant. Here, have a flower picture to make it brighter wherever you are!

Okay, Everybody Smile!
Wednesday's token: 0.1
Thursday's mile: 1.0
Friday's miles: 3.0
Miles out of Hobbiton: 468.5
Miles out of Rivendell: 8.7
Miles to Lothlórien: 453.3.
I took the colour quiz going around:

Your Existing Situation
Working to improve her image in the eyes of others in order to obtain their compliance and agreement with her needs and wishes.
Your Stress Sources
Feels that life has far more to offer and that there are still important things to be achieved--that life must be experienced to the fullest. As a result, she pursues her objectives with a fierce intensity that will not let go of things. Becomes deeply involved and runs the risk of being unable to view things with sufficient objectivity, or calmly enough; is therefore in danger of becoming agitated and of exhausting her nervous energy. Cannot leave things alone and feels she can only be at peace when she has finally reached her goal.
Your Restrained Characteristics
Remains emotionally unattached even when involved in a close relationship.
Circumstances force her to compromise and to forgo some pleasures for the time being. Capable of achieving physical satisfaction from sexual activity.
Your Desired Objective
Seeks success, stimulation, and a life full of experience. Wants to develop freely and to shake off the shackles of self-doubt, to win, and to live intensely. Likes contacts with others and is enthusiastic by nature. Receptive to anything new, modern, or intriguing; has many interests and wants to expand her fields of activity. Optimistic about the future.
Your Actual Problem
The fear that she might be prevented from achieving the things she wants leads her to play her part with an urgent and hectic intensity.
And a tarot card quiz thingie:

You are the Death card. Death is a stage in the
cycle of life. Without death, there would be no
room for new things to grow. When you receive
the Death card in a tarot reading, fear not;
Death is only an indication that transformation
is about to occur. Death allows us all to
evolve by removing that which is no longer
needed. The end of one cycle makes way for a
new one. Old behaviours and patterns which have
tied us down are released. Death cleans house
so that we don't have needless drains on our
energy. In Death's ruthless destruction there
lies compassion. Image from: Danielle Sylvie

Date: 2005-10-03 05:41 pm (UTC)Since I figured out how to set the picture size - that I could figure out without the manual - I've been shooting at highest resolution, 2272x1704. I intentionally overshoot and then crop, so the higher resolution helps. Before that, they were whatever the camera had been set at previously, which almost always fortunately meant 1600x1200 and not something really dumb like 640x480. (OTOH, if it had been, I'd have found the adjustment sooner.)
Previously to that, I was using an Olympus C-211 2MP camera which got broken for me at the flower show last spring by someone who just had to reach around and grab a programme out of the rack I was in front of (and my camera was on), and not the unobstructed rack right next to it.
Both have built-in optical zoom which I used routinely. Digital zoom is not just a waste of time but is actively counter-productive. I'm not using any accessories with either.
I organise them in iPhoto (insofar as what I do can be called "organisation") and crop and prep for the web in Photoshop and Imageready, which should tell you how old my copies of Photoshop and Imageready are.
