wait, so this is a real word?

I thought it was just part of the name of the most powerful conventional explosive known to man -- a few drops blow up entire city blocks, you see -- this according to a Hawaii 5-0 episode, one which also happens to win my award for Stupidest Fake TV/Movie Chemical Name Ever (and which I'll put in large font just so you can have the privilege of gouging your eyes out with a nail file after reading this):

(The parathyoid, or rather, the four parathyroids, are small organs attached to but not part of the thyroid itself, which regulate calcium levels in the bloodstream.) When the thyroid is removed, surgeons attempt to separate and leave in the parathyroids, because being without them is actually more difficult than being without the larger thyroid itself.)
