Here, have another flower. Or in this case, a clump of flowers. It's by the north path:

In other news, there are NO farking squirrels playing with the toy. Stupid squirrels.

Also, walking:
Earlier in the week: all of 0.2 miles.
Wednesday: 2.1 miles.
Miles out of Hobbiton: 88.9
Miles to Rivendell: 369.1

Pretty flowers -- Now I want a garden, too! I think I'll have to settle down for doing something creative with the flowerboxes on the balcony next week :)

And I'm the swiss, too...

thank you Dara, for the lovely photo, and thank you Kathryn (who apparently also knows [livejournal.com profile] pondsice on my flist) for the ID. do azaleas come in different colours, or is it a soil pH thing like hydrangeas?

I have seen Azaleas in different colors, but I don't know if it is the result of pH or just how their genes express.

You can have ours, as they are, as well as being fun furry fellows, destructive pests in the garden. They like to dig up bulbs, eating some types. They also dig around in general, having forgot where they buried nuts the year before, while the lost seeds sprout (walnut seedlings as "weeds") in inconvienant locations.
And you need to do the squirrel dance.

Azaleas come in all sorts of colors, regardless of pH. I have two oor three colors in my yard and have seen others in the neighborhood. Yours look a bit different than mine though. Your leaves are thicker and glossier, more like other memebers of the rhododendron family. Might just be that you're in the lovely damp northwest and I am here in nasty hot Texas. Though we're getting your weather lately. o_O Go us!

I know you mentioned moving away from the university district, but are there still college aged students around? I have seen instances of stupid students attempting to scare the many squirrels that run about campus, especially when the students tend to be drunk.
