Okay, so, Norwescon:

1. iteration - the daily 'zine - went over pretty well; Dear Fan Landers appeared as an unplanned feature - a parody, in the third issue, but got actual questions for Sunday - so that didn't suck at all; the information density in the layout I picked was unexpectedly high, so we didn't go over nearly as much as I'd thought we might. We even got two cartoons submitted to print (both got in on Sunday) and a party reviewer, which is the first time I've managed to get someone to do that.

Having submissions forms helped a lot. We were flooded with submissions for Overheard, which means I got to pick and choose and run just the best ones. And I had relatively little difficulty getting important news items from people. The only sad thing was that I couldn't get on the net, so couldn't run with the Hugo nominees, which also came out this past weekend.

2. The fanzine library was totally mobbed this year, which kind of confused me - yay, but why now? I still had to print most of the new fanzines in it this year myself, from .pdf files provided by the publishers. That's annoying, but whoever takes it over will just get to deal with that, I suppose. The new shelves worked fine, too.

3. Mmmmm, filthy tassel lust.

4. First time in a while i was really sad about it being done when it was, and I was also all upset about no dead dog parties to be found. At least, not at first. Then I found a couple that were going and felt better because it meant I could leave before they were done, so that when I left, I knew there was still convention going. Apparently, in my brain, that's important. ^_^

5. [livejournal.com profile] cow exists mostly as a quantum probability until observed. I have not yet observed [livejournal.com profile] cow. I have, however, observed evidence of cow in the form of text messages that took over an hour to be delivered, and voicemail. I did, however, observe a large assortment of other people, such as [livejournal.com profile] tinlail and [livejournal.com profile] sistawendy and [livejournal.com profile] ivolucien and many others whose LJ names I don't think I know.

6. I have a Chibi Utena pin. [livejournal.com profile] ysabel, you may worship me now. I also got a rose crest. Those were my big two purchases, which tells you what kind of year it was that way.

7. My clothing choices this convention went a long way towards rebuilding my reputation at Norwescon. This is Good, and it was Fun.

Odd, in some cases. But still fun.

8. Getting Tsunami Taiko for halftime entertainment at the masquerade was GENIUS! Also, moving karaoki to Friday? GENIUS! Cleared up Saturday beautifully. Must stay!

9. Speaking of which, the Girl Genius "radio" show this year? Roxx0red. Seriously roxx0red. Particularly the end, which Kaja hadn't read beforehand. Hee hee hee hee hee hee "lizard people." And Jagermonsters. I love Jagermonsters. ^_^ They're making Girl Genius into a webcomic, or trying to - I hope it works out. Three pages a week, Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Fingers crossed!

10. Also, the calling cards I made up actually turned out to be useful. I wonder if I'll get any hits on the web page printed on the back?

11. I finished up iteration+3 (Sunday, the fourth issue) early enough that I got to go to some parties. YAY parties! ^_^ I bought a presupport for Montreal in 2009, partly out of pity, because Norwescon isn't a great return-on-investment for Worldcon bids and we had two bid parties here this year - but partly because Montreal would be an interesting place for a Worldcon. Also, they had an interesting hard cider, which was more mellow than Strongbow but still packed more of a kick. Kind of neat; would sample again. Met a couple of interesting people that I'd like to run into again at future conventions, one of whom I think is named Steve, but I kind of forget. He's hyperactive and funny. Also, he has a friend who is almost seven feet tall, which is also neat and kind of cool.

Other than that, I'm still not unpacked but I'm surprisingly not fuzzy. I am fuzzy! Just not as much as I might expect. The bar's peppermint schnapps isn't bad but isn't as good as [livejournal.com profile] kathrynt's, whatever hers is. Paul got Anime-store-Anna interested in a drawing session in hospitality, and I drew stuff. We might do it more again later. I took my swimsuit, but the hot tub was already foamy by Thursday, and I want No Part Of That. I cared a little about some of the flyers this year, and actually picked some up. I also got a poster, someone's crudzine I found in the freebie rack (not submitted to the library, I might if it turns out to have content), and a cool digest-sized mag about queer comics.

So yeah, it was good. W00t!

Meanwhile in not Norwescon related news, I am cranky at the post office!

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird tried to send off [some] forms overnight.
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird has not sent off the forms overnight.
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends, ** because the last time for dropoff was NOT 4:45, but was 3:30! **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird went to Kenmore post office, they said "NO LOVE FOR YOU! But if you go to Bothell by 4:45 you can still make it." So I went down and a bus was there in like two minutes and took me right to the post office - because even in Kenmore metro IS the love, unlike the post office - and got in queue and filled out the forms and then they said "Wednesday noon, then?" and I said "No! No Wednesday noon! TUESDAY! TUESDAY noon! TUESDAY is tomorrow and it is not yet 4:45!" And they said "NO LOVE FOR YOU it was 3:30 P0WNED!!1!" and I said "but KENMORE said 4:45!! and you did too!!" and they were all HA HA THAT'S WHEN THE TRUCK LEAVES STILL P0WNED. and I went foo.
