Snow!

I love snow. Snow roxx0rs. [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper went out in it and I made a tiny snowelf and we went to the shops and got hot chocolate and fed ducks and had some fresh bread samples, and bought some to bring home for Chicken And Stuff for dinner tonight. There's still a bunch of snow outside too, even if a lot of it has already melted - the ground is still solidly white, but there isn't much left on the trees and bushes anymore.

The bird feeder is the most popular place in the world right now. ^_^

Now we're back home, and [livejournal.com profile] risu made tea, and I'm sitting under a blanket and looking out the windows at the birds and listening to silly comedy shows on NPR. I've got a lot of pictures here, indexed. I really like a bunch of those, though I did no processing on them at all and probably would do a bit if I was posting them one at a time or something.

Oh! And I figured out how to make my digital camera take short movies. No sound, but 320x240 movies, up to 15 seconds each. It's fun! ^_^

Okay, so here's a big picture:

...and I also made a bigger version too.

This hillside shot came out pretty well too:

And this column looks better in snow than it does normally, when it just looks kind of odd:

And three movies! Each one is about 4.7M.

Walking down to the street. There was already a little less snow, it had been falling off the wires by that point. But not much difference. It's been right at freezing all day so far.

On 56th, a little bit down the hill, panning. That's probably only, I dunno, 75 or 100 feet below the house; not a lot of difference from that, I suppose.

Anna feeding ducks down at the shops. Note how much less snow there is down there already - that's almost down to lake-level, and might only be twenty feet or so above the water level. Not sure! But probably 400 feet below the house. It made a real difference. It was noticeably warmer down there.

Snow down here was only a couple cm that was all gone by late morning. We went looking for more snow for dog enrichment, and found rather irregular coverage. Heading east on I-90, Bellevue had little more than we did, though Issiqua had none, and further east, in the highlands just West of North Bend, it was a winter wonderland of fresh, still on the trees snow, though appeared to be only about 3-5cm of actual accumulation. North Bend had no snow, and Mt. Si dramatically had a snow line, drawn just above the roofs of town. The initial hights of the pass had only a smidgen of snow, and even as high as Tinkham Road there was only about 8cm, but it was fresh and enough for the dogs to frolic in. Very nice, though Jasmine got a cut on her foot which abbriviated the adventure.

Nice pic of [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper in the index... couldn't get the movies to play... damned aol...

What kind of comedy do they have on npr? I don't get much opportunity to listen to it since most radio reception in this part of erie sucks big time... in fact any reception (even local television) sucks, which is why i broke down and got a dish... was watching some Fawlty Towers on BBC America this afternoon and nearly busted a gut from laughing... too bad the FCC is so damned tight-assed about the content of television shows that we have to rely on the british to keep us amused... I think my next major expenditure will be the FT boxed set on DVD...

please may i take a copy of "snow-desktop" for wallpaper?

also when i use other people's photos i like to put their names on them both for my own reference and because of general principles. if the answer to question 1 is yes, is "Dara Korra'ti" sufficient or is the full version preferred?
