I take it back; Qwest is just as impossible as Verizon.

So last month, the latest adventures were that Qwest gave us a due date (again) for disconnecting Old Number A without disconnecting Old Number B, or the DSL attached to Old Number B. The guy I talked to told me that all the previous people had been lying to me and that it would in fact only take a few days to disconnect the two lines and then shut down line A. The whole thing should take about a week and we'd be done.

A couple of days later, I get a call from MurkSouth that the network is broken and a call from Infinity Internet (formerly NWLINK) saying that they needed to talk to me about my new Qwest DSL service. Bang head against screen here -> <-

So. I get that fixed. It takes just a couple of hours of being on the phone. They'd changed circuits on the DSL just for... fun, apparently. Without telling the ISP, even. I get them to credit me back for the several months of phone line service we didn't want and had long-ago ordered disconnected. And I send mail saying to everyone, "Okay, they're going to screw up the actual phone line disconnect on this date, so when the DSL goes down, that's why, and I'll come in to fix the thing the smart one told me what they'd probably screw up in the CO and how to can fix it myself. And, of course, anything you can do without involving them is good." Mind you; that's not supposed to happen. But their own guy is telling me that there was probably a 50-50 chance they'd get it wrong anyway.

The due date comes, and DSL goes down, as predicted. I go to MurkSouth, do the thing I need to do, and... it doesn't work. But! On the good side, Old Number A has finally been disconnected, and Old Number B is still returning a dial tone. Yay!

So I phone Qwest.

We have no DSL service whatsoever. Not in their records, anyway. Then they say that there's a new service order for DSL. And eventually they claim I ordered the DSL disconnected. This is, of course, a lie, and I make that abundantly clear, and refuse to let anyone go anywhere until I have them, IINET, and their billing group all on the phone at once in a huge four-way phonepile,

Four hours later, DSL is back up, and things are finally in the right configuration. I skip Japanese class and go home because I'm already too fucking tired to deal.

It's over.

Or is it?

Apparently not!

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** oh for the love of god. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** qwest just sent us a bill for [Old Number A]! **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** For December! **
[livejournal.com profile] annathepiper says "Guh!"
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** it's also to the wrong address! **
[livejournal.com profile] annathepiper says "What the hell happened with those people? Did they used to be this stupid?"
[livejournal.com profile] spazzkat says "Pretty much.. yeah"
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** none of the credits are on the account either. **

So I call.

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** the good part is that [Old Number A] is still showing up as disconnected. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** JESUS GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** I've gotten four different totals due. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** The one on the bill, one for $64 and change, one for $6.81 and now one for $98.70. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** All this from the same person. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** On the same call. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** I can't get the same fucking answer twice in a row here. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** AND $68.14 now. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** FUCKERS. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** now $30.56; that's $98.70 - $68.14 **

They'd found the $68.14 in credits from the months of screwed-up service. But $98.70 is a new high number that isn't even on this bill sent to us at the wrong address for service we don't even have. It takes a while, but I get them to understand that this is wrong, and demand to know why one line + DSL costs much more than two lines + DSL, per month. Initially, she tries to tell me that you save more with two lines. I, of course, am not buying it. Then she starts reading off charges.

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** AGH **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** THEY'RE TRYING TO CHARGE US FOR DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE DSL AT MURKSOUTH **

They were trying to charge us $9.95 for disconnecting the DSL that we didn't want disconnected, and $31 for fixing their own mistake. I am having none of that. They put me on hold again for a while, and come back with a credit to cover the charges for the mistake they made.

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird is on hold
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird la

They now owe us money. I let them apply it to next month's bill. And then...

[livejournal.com profile] solarbird SHRIEKS DO NOT TRY TO SELL ME A CELL PHONE YOU FUCKS
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird JESUS GOD
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** okay. **
[livejournal.com profile] solarbird sends openly ** calm **

...they try to sell me cellphone service.

I don't fucking think so.

You have the Goya girl look. A Goya girl had an air
of extreme elegance and sophistication. They
liked richness of every kind. The artists
excelled in painting brocades and tapestry,
cloth of gold and silver, gauzy fabrics and
black lace. You could have modeled for the
great Spanish painters, such as Valasquez and
Goya. Both were painters to the royal court of
Spain.
