I don't really know why I'm tired; I don't have any reason to be. But I am. It's inexplicably tired day!

Anyway, I now know why doorknob locks are so brutally mocked by locksmiths. It's because of doorknob locks like the one in Din's front door, which this time, I actually looked at and played with a bit when reattaching. (This is because I didn't get it right by chance the first time, so I ended up not being able to put it back together until I futzed with it.)

The approach to unwanted entry taken by the designer of this thing appear to have been. "No! Go a... oh, you want in! Please!" It makes the little mostly-for-privacy lock on the basement door look like a WALL OF STEEL in comparison. Basically, it has two 1mm slanted flanges that keep the doorknob from turning when it's locked. That's it. They're even slanted in the way you'd want them to be if you wanted to make sure you could turn the knob if you really needed to force it for some reason.

And yet, it is built for outdoor use.

Really, it's kind of amazing. Fortunately, there's also a deadbolt.
