Go look at all the new sculpture and new pictures of old sculpture that let you see what the hell it actually looks like. I updated almost every shot. I couldn't update a couple because the pieces sold and I didn't update a couple 'cause they're too old for me to care. This all happened because I finally managed to figure out how to get reasonably good digital pictures of my work (build a white tent and illuminate the hell out of it), and spent three and a half hours yesterday making with the clicky-clicky. Now I just have to get a resume together and I can send off to a couple of local galleries so they can mock my pathetic stylings and humiliate me before the... five or six people who pay attention to this kind of stuff. It'll be fun.

The whole weekend ruled from orbit. Not just because of that; tho' I can't really put fingers on why it did. Maybe it was just the unseasonable sun, maybe it was figuring that photography thing out, maybe it was me and [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper walking our bikes down to Recycled Cycles to get hers fixed and mine tuned up/safety checked. We had a good lunch at Tokyo Garden on the way back, talking about whatever random thing came to mind. I had been going to work in the yard (just for the exercise) but I'm glad I didn't - that was a lot more fun.

[livejournal.com profile] spazzkat, [livejournal.com profile] kathrynt, and [livejournal.com profile] llachglin came over for poker Saturday night; I took the excuse to clean up and ran with it. I even figured out an alternate arrangement for the fireplace half of the living room that kept it nice even though I had to move other furniture around to make a suitable playing spot. [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper mostly hung out and worked on revising her first novel instead of playing, this time, which was probably good since I was being given all the cards for some reason, which was followed by people giving me all the chips. Going no-limit was scary, though; it's a significantly different game once you take the betting limits off it.

I'd bought some cool clay chips at the WotC store in Northgate - since those bastards at Hasbro are shutting them all down, everything's on deep clearance, so I got some good ones for cheap. This matters because the sound the plastic ones make scraping against each other kind of makes my teeth itch (so. annoying.), whereas the clay ones feel nice and sound cool hitting the table. Go tactility!

Anyway. Lunchtime, then resume for art galleries. Should I leave out my art degree if I'm sending stuff to an "outsider art"-heavy gallery, or is that kind of, you know, fraud? I suspect it is. Sigh. Oh well!

and ow are you with biting down on wooden popsicle sticks?

I don't think leaving something *out* is fraud, only putting it in if you didn't do it. could you just say the school and not the degree or is it obvious from the name?

Gods at War

Gods of War is really cool. Like all of your glass sculptures, it's deeply unsettling and leaves me with the feeling that I'm about to cut myself badly. But the overall effect is more representational and has a sense of action that I really like. The conflict of cool and warm colors; radiant spikes of something like sunlight and the onrushing flow of blue waves; an overall sense of shattering--it's very well done.

Besides, if gods are at war, one should be unsettled.

I guess if they bothered everybody they couldn't put them in popsicles. even talking about them this much makes my teeth shiver.
