-0: Our winter friends the roof rats - or the squirrels, depending on the year - are back in the attic and wall. We just can't seem to get rid of the stupid things for good. They go away every summer and they've never been seen in any living space; they just hide up there when it's cold. I wonder which we have this year? They're being noisy in the daytime, so I suspect it's squirrels this year.
+1: I fixed the refrigerator at the other house, the one where the door shelving unit's attachment points were ALL completely destroyed. Go me! ^_^
+2: My halloween costume may, in fact, work. I tried on the big main body piece today and there weren't any disasters - I'm most pleased. ^_^ Work on the other parts proceeds apace! I wish I were a bit more curvy, though. Hee.
+3: I showed the studio apartment (the one with the fridge) to a foreign student who seemed to like it quite a bit. He's only here for nine months, but that's fine. The downside is that I think he really mostly just wants a room, not an entire apartment, and I don't have any rooms open. I think there is a 1:3 chance he'll call me back, which sounds bad but isn't, compared to the usual odds when someone leaves with an application. Plus, he seemed nice. ^_^
+4: While waiting for the abovementioned student, I had a little time to clean. Not close to enough, but a little. The place needs a lot more, though.
-5: Physical therapy still takes too much FUCKING time out of my day. God. It's so difficult to move things forward when you're spending so much time staying even. (Okay, well, getting ahead, since p.t. does, in fact fix things. But still.)
+6: The weather finally cooled off again. Yay! Today was very nice all around, really; some clouds, including some nice moody ones in the morning, some sun - a bit of something for everybody.
+7: Tea. It's nothing new, I'm just mentioning it because I like it a lot. ^_^ Also chocolate-covered graham crackers, which I should not eat, but do anyway. Mmmmmmm chocolate-covered graham cracker. ^_^
+8: Aikido tomorrow. Yay! And - I found my missing jacket. (Mentioned in the same line because I'd thought I'd left it at Aikido, but it was, in fact, at 5026. Duh.)

You are Form 6, Elfin: The Wyld.
"And The Elfin saw the evil and misjudgement in the world and shot her arrow at the sky. Bolts of lightning struck the earth and gave the world balance and growth."
Some examples of the Elfin Form are Demeter (Greek) and Khepry (Egyptian). The Elfin is associated with the concept of growth and balance, the number 6, and the element of water. Her sign is the half moon.
As a member of Form 6, you are a very balanced individual. You can easily adapt to most situations and you may be a good social chameleon. You aren't afraid of changes in your life, but sometimes you evolve too rapidly, leaving others to think that you are leaving them behind. Elfin are the best friends to have because they are open minded.

Date: 2003-10-23 11:38 pm (UTC)If you wanted to be more curvy for your costume, didn't you get some padded stuff for a comic book character costume a few years ago? You could always pull that out again to "enhance" what you got. I saw the picture of your costume and I think it looks very good. :) Go you! Nice work.
Housepests and other things
Date: 2003-10-24 09:19 am (UTC)Of all the places I've lived, I've never had rats-mice by the ton, but not rats. Two things I will never do again..A)Set out mouse bait-they eat it,and die in the walls. It ain't roses. B)Set up an electric mousetrap. Two jobs ago, we set out these electric mousetraps on Friday..probably 50 of them-and took every one of them up Monday. It seems these traps cook the mice. You'd think the manufacturer would pulse these things and limit the current, but nope, the mouse got straight, unfused 120 volts-the rodent equivalent of the old electric hotdog cooker.Talk about a stink. The plain, old fashioned mousetrap is best.
The ultrasonic pest gizmos work.I like them a lot better than sprays or bait.
It is nice here! Crisp, clear Fall weather. Great getting out weather.Too bad this is my bleakend(the weekend I have to work).
I've been working on props for other people's costumes, and the trophies for Archiecon. They may not look like all that much, but they're time consuming. Mostly waiting for epoxy to set or paint to dry. But it's fun to do.
I worked rental maintenance for quite a while, and have seen lots of weird and funny stuff...Scott
