Stinky hot today. Smart elfgirls stay inside with the air conditioner they hooked up last night. Last year we didn't even need it once, this year we already need it in June. Gah!

0) "Ripping" my conversational Japanese language course from cassette tape to mp3, so I can take it with me more easily to Thailand. (I'm going to have a lot of spare time on my hands...) This is turning out to be really easy, so I'm thinking of doing the same for the little bit of music I have only on cassette. But to do that, I'd have to hook up the better tape player, and that'll be a pain. So I'm not sure I'll do it.

1) Met with the Automatic Laundry guy; signed papers. The washer/dryer should be installed in 5026 on Monday. That'll be nice.

-2) The market is unusually weak right now, even for this time of year. Not many calls, not many takers; most of the people seem to like the space - a few people have said it's the cleanest they've seen by far - but ... they're still not renting.

3) Our real estate agent suggests that we can get around this by getting a (dirt cheap) equity loan on 5026, take a substantial about from there, and use it to pay for a new place. We're likely to do that.

4) Biked up Capital Hill; I'm so out of shape; I had to take the last part in first gear. OTOH, I was at the doctor's and my blood pressure is heading back towards my abnormally-low normal - I'm down to 107/60 from a high of around 120/85 or so. I've also lost about five pounds, which never does any harm. I like biking. ^_^

5) Cleaned up a bit around the house; I've generally got the paperwork under control again, I think.

6) Replaced the last bare-bulb light fixture at 5026. About. Time. The new fixture is quite pretty, I think. A little ornate, but not stupidly so. It'd have fit well in the house when it was built, which was the point, and, of course, makes me want to get back onto the whole "fix the whole thing back up" mode, which is INSANE as I can't afford to pay someone to do the work, and I can't do it myself. (And, I don't want to, honestly.)

7) On the other hand, there's that stupid equity loan staring me in the face. So tempting. The place would be nice. And if it wasn't a rooming house, it'd take a lot less work to run. Marf. Please, someone, stop me.

-8) Getting a lot of people who don't want to rent a room in a mixed-gender space. I've never seen that before; this year, I'm seeing it a lot. I don't know what to do about it, either.

9) Zoe has a new slidey-toy. She seems to like it okay, but spends more time standing on it than actually sliding the acrylic bits about. Silly bird. ^_^

+/-10) Lots of contemplation about what to Do Next, in general, behind filters. I suspect I'll mostly be doing that for the next month or two. Blah.

And now - quizzes!

What Flavour Are You? I taste like Peanut Butter.I taste like Peanut Butter.

I am one of the most blendable flavours; I go with sweet, I go with sour, I go with bland, I go with anything. I am practical and good company, but have something of a tendency to hang around when I'm not wanted, unaware that my presence is not welcome. What Flavour Are You?

What Flavour Are You? Tomato is what I taste like.Tomato is what I taste like.

I taste like nothing, except a tomato. I'm sometimes sweet and sometimes tart; sometimes juicy, sometimes crisp. The roles of a tomato are many and varied. I am an exception to all the rules. What Flavour Are You?

I like your lists

What does take a substatial about from there mean? I feel like you left a word out and I can't figure out what word it is.

When are you guys going to Thailand? Why?
Did you know Beth went to Thailand?

She went with her mother, who put up pictures here: http://www.uoregon.edu/~jmour/ThaiIntro.html

(what IS it with Thailand anyway? My co-worker is going there for a honeymoon in July)

Is Worldcon going to be in Thailand next year?
