Belle of the Fifth Column is highlighting Trump’s reality denial of Harris’s crowds, and also his lies about polls, as a “teachable moment” for your Trumpy family and friends.
It’s because these two lies in particular are very, very low-hanging fruit. They’re absolutely obviously false. It’s also trivial to show how false they are. And most of all, they’re such simple lies, simple lies about concrete objects anyone can see, and about easily-understood numbers that require no in-depth knowledge and little if any intelligence. If you know 52 is more than 48, you can get this.
This opportunity is an example of a starting point, of a wedge, a first step of a process that you undertake slowly, and carefully. Don’t go for the hard stuff, don’t go for the high-fear stuff, and don’t go in yelling, just start matter of fact with something this simple and this undeniable. Maybe let them explain to you how it makes sense.
Note also how Team Fifth Column suggest this be used with any Trumpy family and/or friends you might still have. Not randos. Not passing acquaintances. Those won’t listen, because you don’t have an emotional connection that invests them into taking you seriously, which is key to getting around the propaganda shields.
Family. Friends. Any ones you might still have.
I know, you’ve tried; I know, it seems hopeless. But the cult is desperate – as you can tell by holy shit now QAnon think Kyle Rittenhouse is a Secret Trans Terrorist?! – and that means the cult is weakening. Its grip is slipping, and people are juuuuuust starting to fall through its fingers.
Now’s a pretty good time to see if you can’t give someone still in their grip a little pull. See what happens. Because that whole “Kamala Harris’s crowds DON’T EXIST” thing is … hoo boy that’s nuts is what it is.
So give ’em a little tug. See what falls out.
I mean, who knows? Maybe they’ll surprise you.
81 days remain.
