“It’s true. Your devices are listening to you.”

One of two things is happening. Either:

1. Cox Media Group’s CMG Local Solutions Marketing are lying to their customers about silently listening to you and your casual conversations on devices with microphones, such as smart TVs, cell phones, tablets, and a lot of other similar devices

or:

2. They’re actually doing it and then using your private conversations for direct marketing to you, and saying it’s legal.

404 Media have the story. I tried to go to CMG Local Solutions’s page on their “Active Listening” offering – the one discussed in the article – and it didn’t like any browser on my Macbook Pro.

But fortunately, the Wayback Machine has it.

A lot of people are – or at least, damned well should be – in a lot of trouble. The only question is who, and for what.
