fucking twitter
Sep. 4th, 2022 10:12 pmHi. If you're here, that means you wanted to know where I went. You should look up minjonet guillard - more specifically minjonet _ blue. (One would obviously remove the spaces.)
I'm not linking it directly because I don't know how smart their tracking bots are and I don't want to close a connection. I do post in mixed French and English, but there's a lot of English and the political content is unchanged.
Seriously, follow that account. I don't know how long my traditional account will stay live.
For the backstory, keep reading.
In mid-July I got hit with an algorithmic Twitter suspension. I appealed and immediately got an automated rejection - like seriously, hit submit, see the mail arrive in my inbox immediately - which just shows you how fraudulent the first appeal is. So I re-appealed at once, and got a message saying they'd look at it as soon as they could.
Since then, I've been told by people who know that you need at least 20,000 complaints to get them to actually look at any appeal literally ever. Basically, you need to get some big bluechecks on your side, and without that, you're just fucked.
So not having that, and given that we're headed into to the election, after 52 days I gave up and lied to twitter that I agreed the tweet in question violated Twitter rules.
That was, again, A LIE - a forced, false confession - because I IN NO WAY VIOLATED TWITTER RULES. I want that to be very clear. But they demanded a false confession to give me my account back. ATSAB and all that.
The tweet in question accurately described the Republican position on abortion, as affirmed that same week by the Idaho Republican Party, wherein abortion is permitted in no cases, including to save the life of the mother. It was in the context of Texas suing the Biden administration for insisting that abortion must be allowed in medical emergencies, and it linked to a source.
It also quoted in condemnation a phrase I saw from multiple MAGAts on twitter in response to this story. These replies, while absolutely despicable, also didn't violate Twitter rules. But somehow me quoting it did, because they don't want to offend the fascists, I guess.
To wit, the complete text of my tweet:
This doesn't violate Twitter rules and I shouldn't ever have had to delete it - though honestly I didn't care about that, what I objected to was having to give a false confession to get my account back. But because this election is too important, and I have a lot more followers here than elsewhere, I did it.
Anyway. That's the story. Might expand this later, or maybe make a second post, but that's most of it. It's a story that many people who work against fascists can tell, unfortunately. I'm far from the only one.
(Also, just for the record - while my other account has a fair amount of French on it, I'm not pretending to be French there. I'm just being a student of French, which I actually am. So it's not even a pose, it's real.)

Today's @GOP is saturated with a visceral hatred of women. Pregnant and it's killing you? As so many rightists have said since overturning Roe, "shoulda kept your legs SHUT, slut" so just die.
Grotesque.
