Jun. 23rd, 2008 10:50 amThe last stand against FISA - in the form of getting a filibuster going against retroactive immunity - is detailed pretty well here by Christy Hardin Smith at firedoglake. Amoungst Senator Obama's previous promises was that he would filibuster any bill containing amnesty. I'm pretty sure that in reality, this means he'll vote against closing debate and that'll be all.
But if you want to try to hold him to that, it doesn't take very long. Here're the numbers for Senator Obama's campaign, you might ring him up. Campaign numbers:
ETA: Senator Feingold says he, Senator Leahy, and Senator Dodd will do everything they can procedurally to slow this down - but they haven't heard a word from Senator Obama and don't know what he's going to do. I've expressed my tiny outrage at every Senator on the list.
ETA2: Don't forget to help retaliate by donating to the FISA fund. Democratic incumbents need to know that they are going to lose seats over this.
