Jun. 2nd, 2006 02:02 pmThis is stupidly cool. It's a wall-socket-sized RISC PC that can run off ethernet power.
NYC terrorism preparation funds slashed 40% by the feds, who also list, and I'm not making this up, zero "national monuments and icons" in NYC, and further missed more than half the city's financial giants. Meanwhile, Jacksonville, Florida gets a funding hike because it's the home of the world-renowned Budweiser Brewery Tour. Mmmm, retaliatory funding shifts.
zarq has lots more quality ranting here and here.
From
zarq, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad interviewed by Der Spiegel; he should have plenty of friends amoungst the fascists after this, the fucking neo-Nazi;
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALIENS! No, really. They might be. o.O
In other news, I was kind of up in a tree when the log I was kind of using as a ladder kind of ... fell. I didn't fall, because while I'm dumb enough to use a log as a ladder, I'm not dumb enough to trust it. But my arms are scratched up now. :-p What I was doing, though, was cutting off a few low branches from an alder to get more sun to the new garden box, which, I'm afraid, is indeed a bit more shaded than I'd like. Oh well, it'll make a great spring/autumn box, and just not be as good for summer.
Oh, and the giant lot with a little house on it on the other side of the hill is now two not-so-giant lots that're going to have two houses on it. The original house is staying - they've started remodeling it - and the other half is going to get its own building. The noise from the lot clearing is what got me climbing the back yard today - it sounded like it was in our back yard, so I really had to go check it. I don't mind this much, except I'm sad they took out this one gigantic cedar tree that had been there for a very long time. ;_; That's what got me thinking of trimming those few branches off the alder.
After that, I tried to find a reasonable way back by Lake Forest Park road - I was hoping there was a link between the little road at the top of the hill and Goat Trail Road - but there wasn't one, so I climbed the hill back home.

Red, Purple, and Crinkly
