now i haff a machine gun
Feb. 15th, 2006 10:32 pmOur neighbours cut down a gigantic laurel which was right up against their house, in the kind of place that usually means BASEMENT VS. ROOTS: FIGHT! And suddenly, we can see Lake Washington from our bedroom windows. It's what realtors call a "peek-a-boo" view, tho' it's bigger than I usually think of when I hear that term - I mean, I just noticed it upstairs tonight because there were more lights in the distance to the south than I'm used to having in my field of view when walking around the bedroom. And it might be winter only - I don't know, it's hard to tell at night. Regardless, it's very strange!
(I noticed the workers there earlier, and wondered what that would do, and now I know. Still - very surprising! I can't help but think they'd have built this house differently if they'd thought that might ever happen. I don't think they'll put anything back: they're getting a view of the lake out of it (again) too, a much larger one.)
In the morning, I'll try to take a picture. It might have to wait until the afternoon, since the sun rises in the southeast and the lake view (surprise!) is south-southeast.
