in the middle of nothing
Jul. 23rd, 2005 08:48 pmI also discovered that I'd been getting the miles to murksouth by Burke-Gilman wrong; door to door is almost exactly ten, not eight, miles. I'm not going to go back and revise my totals or anything, but I feel a lot better about my times now. Speaking of which, my door-to-door time last night was 50 minutes, which is the best I've done - half the trip in 2,6 and half the trip in 2,7, excluding, as always, the hill at the very end where I always have to walk parts. It's about time to start doing this thing in 3, gears. To wit: go me. ^_^
The nine miles before the hill were covered in 40 minutes, too, and the first five and a half of those in 20. To wit: I was flying. Total average 12mph door to door, 13.5 trail section, 17.5(!) first 5.5 miles, last (steep uphill) mile at 6mph net. (Right before the clock tower, I'd shifted down to 2,6 from 2,7; hence the longer time for the next 3.5 miles. Plus being more tired. ^_^ )
Friday's miles: 10.9
Saturday's miles: 2.2
Miles out of Hobbiton: 295.05
Miles to Rivendell: 163.25
We have named the new house down the street on 182nd, the one they finally just finished. We call it, "La Hacienda de la Govermente," because, well, it looks like this:

And honestly, I'm not sure it could say "US government outpost in Latin American puppet-government dictatorship" any more strongly without lining up nuns in the back yard and shooting them in the head.
And to compensate for that lovely image, here's a flower picture:

And another one, because quite frankly, I haven't posted many flower pictures lately and I've got a bunch of new ones that I want to post because I like them, and so I'm cleaning out the queue from the previous round:

Despite the double-header picture day, I still have more left over from the previous round. Oh well, we'll get to the new ones soon enough, I suppose. There'll be some other kinds of pictures, too, since I shot more than just flowers.
( Here, have some quizzes. )
