Weedingfest, both yesterday and today. I think I'm slowly winning the battle of the horsetail. It's hard to tell for sure, of course, since it's a slow thing and you don't know how much is not growing back right now, but will return later.
On the other hand, the second terrace on the south slope - which makes it sound much later than it actually is, but it's how I identify it ^_^ - stayed pretty well hammered down since last time I did it a couple of months ago. I got through the third terrace, too, which is pretty keen. It cleans up really well, and I injected a lot of horsetail with Go Away Now death, so we'll get a good look at how well it stays clear. Unlike the north pathway, which is near a part-time creek, the south path isn't really permanently wet, and it's broken up with rocks into levels, which helps slow the spread of any horsetail that does grow. I also cleared away a bunch of other weeds, but except for the blackberry, which isn't too thick on the south side, that's pretty trivial.
And I worked a little on the north end, and in the front garden. And in the grass, where some has popped up. Gotd dammit that stuff is evil.
spazzkat helped out with the weeds I'm most allergic to, which was great - I actually feel fine, despite several hours out in it. So yay.
I'm trying some of the Finale on blackberry cutbacks, too. Hopefully it'll work.
Here, have another flower picture - fittingly, it's a borderline-weed, just because of where it is, but I like it:

Other stuff this weekend: watched a movie (The Day After Tomorrow, see
annathepiper's LJ about that - it did a pretty good job of being Irwin Allen-style disaster pr0n except for getting really kind of dull in the last 45 minutes), barbecued outside (
spazzkat did the work, with his grill), read, played video games with several people, went to the monthly Sunday artjam for the first time in months, and generally lazed about. The artjam is much larger than it used to be, too, which is good.
I should start scanning doodles. Maybe that'll be this winter, once there aren't flowers to photograph.
Right now, though, fireworks are going off everywhere - far more than I'd hear in Seattle, tho' generally further away. We could see a bit of what we're pretty sure was the Woodinville display from our house, as well as the fringes of Bothell's and Redmond's. And unlike in the U. District, the wildcat displays are all bright, not just noise, including a neighbour who has set off a few big ones quite illegally. Hee.
Honestly, except for the occasional close bang, what it sounds completely like is shrimp sounds when you're snorkeling. It's that constant, tho' a bit more variable. It's kind of neat. Polly is hiding. Zoe doesn't seem to care.
Sunday: 2.0 miles
Monday: None. Worked ass off in garden.
Miles out of Hobbiton: 257.55
Miles to Rivendell: 199.75
