If you're calling someone in a hotel in Thailand, "Room 419" apparently sounds a lot like "Room 411," and if you manage to say "No, no, Room 419" enough times before they try to transfer you anyway it apparently sounds a lot like "Room 415" and they try to transfer you there, and then they're all confused because there's nobody in that room and they come back to you and you say "Room four-one-nine" very slowly and with extra wide spacing between digits and they finally get it and you try to say "thank you" in Thai but you get your two Thai phrases confused and accidentally say "<hello>" instead and then you think "oh shit that's wrong" and say "er, ah," "<thank you>" hopefully before she gets confused again and then you get kinda flustered and apologise, but in Japanese.
I really shouldn't try to use the telephone. I'm just not very good at it.
