End of the Year
Dec. 24th, 2003 12:45 pm1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
To a fair degree, it was more what I'd hadn't done before... going to Thailand was the biggest one.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any, but I'm wondering about this year if I might.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I can't think of any in 2003.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not firsthand. Friends of friends and relatives of friends, yes. But nobody I knew personally.
5. What countries did you visit?
Thailand, Japan (to and from Thailand, only a few hours each time but I WAS THERE), and Canada, of course.
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
A new house.
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Probably July 11th, even if I have to think about it to come up with the day. People who know me know why. ^_^
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I should just make this friends-only, shouldn't I?
9.What was your biggest failure?
Not yet getting a new house.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I hurt my arm VERY painfully in July.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I'd LIKE to say A NEW HOUSE. But since I can't, my 12" Powerbook. It's all about the love.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
risu's, for learning one particularly important thing.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
As usual, the political wing of the fundamentalist evangelical movement currently leading the Republican party. Next year will be hellish on that front, since they want to make an anti-gay/lesbian amendment to the federal Constitution the focus of the fall election campaign.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Medical bills. Blah. I had surgery and hurt my arm; Anna broke her arm right in two. It sucked.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Fixing one very old wrong done to me.
16. What song will always remind you of 2003?
"Move Your Feet," and the theme to Molly Star-Racer
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Happier. Wouldn't have been true in October against the year before, but it was about this time last year that things got crazy.
ii. thinner or fatter?
About the same.
iii. richer or poorer?
Fiscally poorer.

Hiring out house-repair/restoration work, and singing.

Hurting.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
What, you mean National Jews and Pagans Go To The Movies Day? ^_^
21. Did you fall in love in 2003?
No, sadly.
22. Did you fall out of love in 2003?
No, fortunately.
23. How many one night stands?
Not a one... tho' I did have some offers.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
Revolutionary Girl Utena!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

26. What was the best book you read?
American Gods, by Neil Gaiman.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Playing.
28. What did you want and get?
Heh. ^_^
29. What did you want and not get?
A new house!
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
So. Many. Return of the King was great, so was Shaolin Soccer and the deeply disturbing Battle Royale.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
I don't remember either! I think we went to Pho and a movie on 23 September, but I don't honestly remember.

I don't really do the whole celebrity thing.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?

My birth mother. Which sounds weird, but, well, there's a long, long story behind it and I'm not repeating it here.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
The cute guy at the little store who kind of likes me. ^_^ (I don't meet enough new people. ^_^ )
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003.
I don't think I've learned one yet. I've had a bunch reinforced, though. And there's yet time!
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Even if I dream, even if I cry, even if I get hurt;
Reality just keeps coming, recklessly.
I wanna find out where I am, the value of being me.
Gonna take who I've been up 'till now
And find the strength to throw it all away,
Strip down to nothing at all
Become like a rose petal, floating free.
Even if the two of us are torn apart
I swear that I will change the world.
