Taking too much time to do too little today! But I suppose it makes up for yesterday, which is supposed to be my day off.

0: Got a lot of forms and stuff I'll need to fill out and send in. Friends know why. ^_^

1: Finished the last basement thing at 5026 - a stand for the microwave. I went to Ikea for it, since the one Target had that I liked wasn't available, and the other was surprisingly expensive, given that it's Target. It assembled pretty quickly, despite needing more screws than I've ever seen in an Ikea kit before. I also got a bunch of hangers - I need more pants and skirt hangers, still, though.

-2: One of the pants hangers is b0rken out of the box. Very annoying. I'll have to take it back, eventually...

3: Also got some battery-powered lamps for the closet while there; they're interesting in that they're always on unless the cover - which functions as the switch - is pushed in, from the side. So you attach them to the wall (or ceiling, in this case) so that the door pushes them into "off" position. And when you open the door, bling! Battery-powered lighty goodness. It's like a refrigerator, only with clothes. And no cooling. That last part's kind of annoying, too - a refrigerated closet would be neat. I could go hide in it when it got really hot. Also: they're a lot brighter than those lame dome click lights, which are good for NOTHING WHATSOEVER.

-4: Bee nightmare last night had me collapsed in a corner in fear in the dream, before I woke up. That kind of sucks. I hate bees. A lot. I wonder why?

5: Down to 134. Trying to reach 132 by July; should be easy. ^_^

-6: MUST. WRITE. LETTERS. TODAY. Which I'll go do now. The fanzine library letter is at least a month late. Mouuuuuuuuuuuuu! I don't know why I'm having such a hard time getting myself to write letters lately. It's not like they're that difficult - I just need to do them.

Even without singing lessons anymore for the time being - stupid recession! - I'm actually making progress. Real progress. I'm pretty sure it's not just me thinking so, either. (Well, I know it's not, but you know what I mean.) I've moved my upper break from C# to F# in about a week. That's a fourth. That thing I said I'd figured out, about 10 days ago? I was right. I had figured something out. Now I'm just practicing it. ^_^

Tonight I sang that upper (to me) G in a song. (That's the one an octave and a fifth above middle C.) Repeatedly. Actually, in two separate songs. And I hit it every time. Cleanly. Kind of clearly, too; no screeching involved. I even screeched the A in a song once (trying out some embellishment notes *^_^*;) And I screamed the upper Bb again in warm-ups.

The high C will be mine. Oh, yes, it will. I will have it.

I think I've got a pretty good grip on Quella Fiamma Che M'Accende. I'm still having some weird rhythm problems starting around measure 43, because the piano does a little (unlabeled, I might add) legato right before it, and there's a confusing bit in the tenor line of the accompaniment that confuses me about when to come in. But I made it through correctly today again, so I think I'm figuring it out.

I've assigned myself Vittoria, Mio Core! from the medium-high (second soprano) book and am working on the first half. That's got the G in it, and I'm working just on the first 34 measures for now, until I get kind of a clue about how it's really supposed to sound.

I'm also still working on my sightreading and music-reading exercises, and at this point, I can actually read music. I'm learning to recognise keys by their key signatures. I know the system for keys with sharps, but not for flats - I should probably look that up or bug Kathryn for it. (HI KATHRYN ^_^ )

W00t! This is fun. ^_^
